Hailey Hartford is a fiction writer who uses her love of art to inspire her comics, prose, and poetry. Her writing has a darker edge to it, which is informed by visual artists such as Frida Kahlo, Caravaggio, and J. M. W. Turner. She crafts her deeply compelling stories focusing on the themes of mental illness and internal struggles. Among her literary influences are William Faulkner and Sylvia Plath who, like her, delve into the cycles revolving within and around mental illness. Hailey further takes on these themes and translates them into comics thereby adding unique visual elements that enable her to reach a wider audience.
In 2014, while attending Full Sail University for her BFA in Creative Writing, she was recognized for her talent in: Children's Entertainment, Creative Skills Development, and Literary Genre II: Horror, Mystery, and Suspense.
Hailey is in the process of finishing two comics, Adonis Barked about a veterinary necromancer who unleashes hell on Earth, and Psychosis that follows a schizophrenic psychologist that literally dives into her patient's minds to treat them. She is also developing her debut novel, The Nearly Dead, about a heroin addict who overdoses and ends up in a hellish underworld where she is presented with a second chance at life if she can prove she has what it takes.
In her spare time, she enjoys playing with her pet rats: Pippin, Gandalf, and Smeagol.
